LSC has an exciting opportunity for a Site Environmental Compliance Professional to join a pharmaceutical company in Cork. This will be a dynamic environment that is constantly innovating, relies on cutting-edge technology to deliver life-saving medicines.
You will be working in a site that supplies active ingredients through complex chemical synthesis and biotechnology manufacturing processes for a range of therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and company policies, promoting sustainable practices, and supporting the continuous improvement of onsite environmental performance.
The position requires effective collaboration with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including reliability engineers, maintenance planners, service providers, and regulatory agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The successful candidate will play a vital part in the management of site waste, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the promotion of sustainable transport solutions.
ABOUT THE PROJECT - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Waste Management - oversees the safe, compliant, and cost-effective handling, storage, transport, classification, and disposal of all waste streams generated by pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
- Oversee compliance of the F-gas inventory/register, ensuring all refrigerant-containing equipment is tracked, labelled, and documented correctly.
- Oversee the site Bunds Programme in coordination with facilities, ensuring all bunds, containment areas, and associated infrastructure remain fully compliant with environmental regulations and site standards.
- Drive initiatives that promote green and sustainable transportation options across the site.
- Actively contribute to the Environmental Technical Committee and play a key role within the site Sustainability Team.
ABOUT YOU - ARE YOUR SKILLS A MATCH?
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in environmental compliance/engineering
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and compliance procedures.
- Proven project management and organisational skills.
- Prior experience engaging with regulatory authorities, such as the EPA, is an advantage.
