The Irish Life Science industry exports more than €45 billion annually, employs over 50,000 people, and accounts for 32% of the country’s GDP. Ireland is home to 10 of the top ten pharmaceutical companies in the world, 24 out of 25 of the top biopharma companies, and 18 of the top medical technology companies in the world. *

Owing to the continued efforts of the IDA and a highly skilled workforce in Ireland there’s been over €1bn invested in life sciences within the first six months of 2022.

Unprecedented Investments announced Countrywide

Along with the investments announced in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, there has also been major announcements across the Midlands. Alexion, AstraZeneca’s rare disease unit, saw an investment of €65 million which will expand its operations in Athlone, Zeotis in Tullamore have begun their €133million expansion which will double their workforce and a new sterile manufacturing facility at MSD Carlow is set to create around 100 new jobs. This has given huge opportunities for local economy to flourish and gives jobseekers a variety of options across the country.
