LSC have a great contract opportunity for an Innovation Research Lead to join a multinational medical device company based in Cork.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research, collaborate actively with multiple company segments and stakeholders and to develop cutting edge technologies.
  • This role requires an all-round candidate that has a strong technical background (engineering/science) as well as a research & development (R&D) background with excellent project management skills.
  • This role requires a candidate with strong software development skills and proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Identify and pursue new research directions for current and emerging technologies in machine learning, machine vision and robotics.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to work outside their immediate area of comfort, independently and be able to adapt and learn across a broad spectrum of technical areas.
  • Serve as a researcher and software developer on teams developing hardware and software solutions for robotics and automation technology areas.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in computer vision and development of deep learning algorithms. Experience with TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, OpenCV is highly desirable.
  • Participate in all phases of digital and automation system development cycle, including requirements definition, hardware/software systems design, implementation, testing, and integration.
  • The candidate will lead and support innovation projects that align with business needs and this will be involve leading and participating in teams, leveraging our Innovation Engine concepts to evaluate and demonstrate these new and breakthrough technologies while partnering with business and other key functions to establish the overall business benefit that can be achieved.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing new collaborative partnerships with internal and external functions to develop frameworks to explore, develop and test new capabilities and solutions.
  • Actively engage with customers and end users to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Participate in designated projects and programs within the overall systems and new technology readiness programs as appropriate, support concepts to transition from incubation to scale to deployment, ensure the needs of the Supply Chain are addressed and included as part of development and deployment process.
  • Lead the development and sustain collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances both internally and externally to drive value through innovation.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required. Master's or higher degree is preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning and computer vision algorithm development is required.
  • Strong software development experience in C/C++ and Python is required.
  • Experience in the development of deep learning applications is preferred
  • Experience with TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, OpenCV, MS Azure is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems, architectural landscapes and infrastructures and a clear understanding of enterprise systems and processes
  • At least eight (8) years of professional experience in R&D and/or Technology related roles required.
  • At least three (3) years of related experience is required, preferably in Technology and Project Management.
  • Proven experience in new technology development and introduction and new modalities is required.
  • Functional knowledge and experience in systems within Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals or other healthcare regulated sectors is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Good Practices (GxP) and Sox requirements and regulations (including document management) are preferred.
  • Showing initiative in innovative approaches to challenges in a fast-paced, changing global environment is required.
  • Must have strong collaboration and influencing skills to partner effectively at all levels and across multiple groups is required.
  • Change management and project management skills, as well as business acumen and financial background are required.
  • Strong leadership, organization and prioritization, relationship development, conflict resolution, and team building skills, with the ability to build partnerships and collaborate both internally and externally is required.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, develop and execute plans to prove out key science and technological concepts is required.
  • Strong grasp of algorithms and data structures is required.
  • Experience with embedded systems development is preferred
  • The main location for this position is Ireland, Cork but there will be flexibility within other locations in EMEA. This position may require up to twenty five percent (25%) of domestic and international travel.
