LSC has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Management Engineer

ABOUT THE PROJECT - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for building services in offices, laboratory buildings, warehouses, and other non-GMP spaces (HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, lighting, access control, fire/life safety systems, BMS).
- Maintain and support laboratory building infrastructure and associated general lab equipment (fume hood extraction, lab HVAC/environmental controls, lab water systems,autoclaves' facility connections, emergency showers/eyewash stations) - excluding GMP-classified production utilities.
- Monitor and respond to facility alarms and reactive maintenance requests, ensuring timely resolution to minimize disruption to office and lab occupants.
- Coordinate contractor and vendor activities for specialized maintenance, servicing, and repair work across hard services.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and asset registers within theComputerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Soft Services Management - Oversee delivery of soft services including cleaning, catering, waste management, pest control, grounds/landscaping, and reception/mailroom support, whether delivered inhouse or via third-party contracts.
- Manage and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for soft services contractors; conduct regular performance and quality reviews.
- Act as point of escalation for soft services issues raised by building occupants (e.g., cleaning standards, catering facilities, waste collection).
- Support catering facility compliance (food safety/hygiene standards liaison, equipment servicing coordination) in conjunction with catering providers and Environmental Health requirements.
- Support space planning, office moves, and minor churn/refurbishment works.
- Compliance & Statutory RequirementsEnsure all non-GMP facility systems and activities comply with statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g., fire safety, water hygiene/Legionella (L8), electrical safety, F-Gas, lift/LOLER, pressure systems, asbestos management).
ABOUT YOU - ARE YOUR SKILLS A MATCH?
- Relevant technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services
- Engineering, or equivalent facilities management qualification/experience (e.g., IWFM/BIFM Level 3+).
- 3-5+ years' experience in a Facilities Management or hard/soft services engineering role, ideally within a corporate, laboratory, or life sciences office/campus environment.
- Working knowledge of UK statutory compliance requirements relevant to building services (e.g., fire safety, water hygiene, electrical safety, LOLER, F-Gas).
- Experience managing outsourced service providers (cleaning, catering, maintenance contractors) and monitoring SLA/KPI performance.
- Familiarity with CMMS/CAFM platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Planon, Concept).
