Taking Annual Leave

Depending on the client site you are working on, LSC uses different systems to manage annual leave. We currently use two systems: BrightPay Connect and HR Duo.

When you joined LSC, you would have been advised which system applies to you. Please refer to the relevant section below for step‑by‑step guidance on how to book annual leave using your assigned system.

It’s important to follow the correct process, as the steps differ between BrightPay Connect and HR Duo.

BrightPay Connect Presentation

How do I check my holiday balance on BrightPay Connect?

  • In LSC, our annual leave calander runs from 1st Jan to 31st December each year and BrightPay will only show the holidays you are entitled to for that particular year i.e. Brightpay will show you the annual leave balance from the date you started that year up to the 31st December of that year.
  • If you finish your contract or leave LSC before the 31st December you will need to contact us at [email protected] and we will recalculate and advise you of the holidays you are entitled to on a pro-rata basis.
  • If your contract extends into the next year, BrightPay will not show the holiday balance for that portion of your contract until the commencement of the following year.
  • If you start at a date later then the 1st January, your annual leave balance is pro-rated for the year from the start date to the end of the year.

Annual Leave Process with BrightPay Connect

  • Annual leave should be requested from your hiring manager via e-mail using the below form. Please have your manager approve the annual leave by physically or digitally signing the form and forward this approval to [email protected]
  • An email approval from your manager in place of the form will also suffice if that is their preference.
  • Please check with your hiring manager if they also have an internal process for annual leave that must be adhered to.
  • Submit the holiday request on BrightPay Connect.
  • Only when the manager approval is received, and the holidays are booked on BrightPay Connect will the holidays be confirmed.
  • All annual leave should be booked in advance and communicated to LSC as outlined above. If for some reason the annual leave was not booked in advance please clearly indicate on the timesheet for the week the annual leave was taken.

Annual Leave Form (PAYE)

Public Holiday Pay

You are entitled to be paid for 10 public holidays: New Year’s Day, St Brigid’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter Monday, May Bank Holiday, June Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday, October Bank Holiday, Christmas Day, St. Stephen’s Day

Personal Leave

Usually when you take a day off as a personal leave all you need to do is e-mail us (please make sure your manager that you are reporting to is aware and notified). We will then make a note of this. When you submit your timesheets you input 0 hours, ideally with the note below that 0 hours on x day was personal unpaid leave.

PAYE & LTD Consulants - HR Duo

For PAYE consultants, HR Duo is the system used to formally submit and record annual leave. For LTD consultants, while annual leave is unpaid, you are strongly encouraged to log time off in HR Duo so that your manager and LSC have visibility of your availability.

If requesting annual leave, you do not need to email LSC. All leave shoud be submitted through HR Duo. For any days that you are on annual leave please ensure that you record 0 hours in your timesheet.

Annual Leave Process with HR Duo

  • Log in to HR Duo – Use the login details you received by email when HR Duo was rolled out. If you can’t find this email or have trouble accessing the system, contact [email protected].
  • Navigate to the Leave Section: Once logged in, go to the leave section on the main dashboard and click “Appy for Leave”.
  • Enter the dates you plan to be on annual leave and submit the request through HR Duo. This step is important — leave must be logged in HR Duo even if it has already been discussed or agreed verbally with your manager.
  • Once submitted, your manager is automatically notified through HR Duo. Your manager will review and approve the request to acknowledge that you are taking leave.
  • After approval, your annual leave is recorded in HR Duo, giving both your manager and LSC clear visibility of when you are on or off site.

Important: Your annual leave is not confirmed or recorded until your manager has approved the request in HR Duo.

How do I check my holiday balance on HR Duo?

Once logged into HR Duo, on the far right hand side you will see your leave breakdown. You will see your total leave, your approved leave for this year, and your remaining leave. If you have any questions on your leave balance please email [email protected].

LTD Consultants

As an LTD contractor, paid annual leave and bank holidays are not provided; however, you have the flexibility to take time off as needed. It is crucial to notify your Manager at the client site you are working in and record zero hours on your timesheets for any day you are not actively working.
