Providing skilled workers to the Pharmaceutical & Medical Device sectors
LSC were delighted to be invited by Cork Training Centre to the 10 year anniversary of the opening of the Carrigaline Biopharma training facility earlier this week. The facility was established in 2006 with the goal of improving Ireland’s ability to provide skilled workers to the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device sectors and this has certainly been achieved. In attendance were key members of the Life Science industry in Ireland and national dignitaries who came together to celebrate the centre’s success.
Kyran Johnson, General Manager, Janssen Supply Chain Ireland, commended the facility on contributing to the success of Janssen and the industry as a whole by providing highly skilled workers who have been trained hands-on in an industrial set up by experienced professionals.
Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, also spoke at the event acknowledging training and continuous professional development as vital components in strengthening the Irish Life Science sector. Companies who have supported the centre through the provision of equipment, work placement programmes and more were awarded with Certificates of Recognition during the event – Janssen, Eli Lilly, GE Healthcare, Pall, Merck Millipore and GSK were among awardees.
